I. Basic Product InformationModel: 8237-2597 (ProTech-GII with Math Enhancement
I. Basic Product Information
Model: 8237-2597 (ProTech-GII with Math Enhancement Function), original Woodward TMR tri-mode redundant overspeed protection device, SIL3 safety rating, compliant with API670/API612 and IEC61508 standards, specifically designed for overspeed protection tripping of steam turbines/gas turbines, water turbines, reciprocating machines, and compressors.
Power Supply: Single module compatible with 90~240VAC wide voltage range; 24VDC auxiliary power supply optional for the whole unit.
Structure: Three completely independent measurement modules (A/B/C), panel-mounted (rack mounting only).
Speed Range: 0.5~32000RPM, speed measurement accuracy ±0.25%, trip response **≤12ms**
II. Core Hardware Architecture (Standard configuration for 8237-2597)
Speed Input: 2 MPU magnetoelectric speed probes per module (compatible with active/passive magnetic pickups), up to 6 speed signal acquisitions for the whole unit.
Trip Output: Two configurations (optional upon ordering).
2003-out-of-3 voting type (mainstream, standard configuration for 8237-2597): 2 sets of redundant trip relays, tripping triggered after logic voting by the three modules, no false tripping in case of single-point fault, meeting unit safety regulations.
Three-channel independent non-voting type: 1 each of A/B/C. Independent trip contacts for each of the three channels, ensuring no interference between them; ideal for redundant hydraulic trip circuits.
Auxiliary IO: Independent alarm relay, 4~20mA analog speed output, switch start/stop/reset input.
Communication: Standard Modbus-RTU, optional external gateway for Ethernet expansion; speed, alarm, and trip data upload to DCS/PLC.
III. Key Functions (8237-2597 Unique Math Enhancement Algorithm)
Overspeed + Over-acceleration Dual Protection: In addition to fixed speed tripping, configurable acceleration surge tripping can prevent rotor runaway faults; supports custom deceleration interlock protection.
Online Testing & Online Hot Maintenance: Single module faults can be hot-swapped for replacement; the remaining dual channels maintain unit safety without shutdown; panel buttons/Modbus. Remote simulation speed measurement to verify the integrity of the trip circuit.
Event storage: Timestamped trip logs and fault alarm records store overspeed trigger values, probe disconnection, power abnormalities, and module fault information for easy post-fault tracing.
Password hierarchical access control: Hierarchical encryption for parameter setting and trip setting modification to prevent accidental modification of protection settings.
Built-in simulation signal source: Built-in internal frequency generator allows for whole-machine calibration and verification without external probes.
IV. Typical application scenarios
Thermal power turbine generator sets, gas turbine combined cycle units
Hydropower turbine units, large reciprocating compressors in oil refining/chemical industries, drive turbines
Marine power turbines, industrial waste heat power generation turbine units
