The Kongsberg RDIO401 is a remote digital input/output module from Kongsberg's Marine 400 series, primarily used in ship automation, propulsion control systems, engine room monitoring, and power management systems to achieve distributed digital signal acquisition and control output.
This module is a remote I/O unit that communicates with upper-level controllers (such as RCU, RAIT400, RPC400, etc.) via Kongsberg's dedicated SPBus bus. It is responsible for connecting digital signals from field switches, solenoid valves, indicator lights, relays, and other devices to the control system and executing issued control commands.
The module provides multiple configurable or fixed-assignment digital input (DI) and digital output (DO) channels, all using the marine 24VDC standard. The channels feature electrical isolation and overcurrent and short-circuit protection, making them suitable for environments with strong vibrations and high electromagnetic interference in the engine room.
The front panel is equipped with LED status indicators that clearly display the module's operation, bus communication status, and the working and fault information of each channel, facilitating on-site troubleshooting.
The RDIO401 features a compact industrial design, supports rail mounting, and fully complies with marine environmental requirements and classification society certification standards. It is often used in conjunction with other I/O modules and remote controllers in the RIO400 series to form distributed control systems, and is widely used in merchant ships, offshore vessels, propulsion control, and DP dynamic positioning systems.
